But God!

“But God”, are the most comforting words on the planet! Without Him everything falls apart. We may do our best to keep things in place, but without Him we are nothing. Sometimes it can feel like a long waiting game with God, and it can be easy to lose hope, but I know He comes through! He delivers on his promises.

“But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with Him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth and the waters subsided.” Genesis 8:1

He doesn’t just consider us, but all the living things that are with us. The flood came to remove all wickedness and dead things. It takes time to remove the dross from our lives, but in the end, God comes through if we endure the waiting.

I’ve seen many dead things fall away from my own life, I’m not alone in this, I’ve been so encouraged by some of our recent conversations. I’m trusting you also will be encouraged by the story below.

Two years ago Christopher* started a conversation with us saying “I’m Jesus in the flesh!” He was disinterested to continue a conversation, that is until 4 months ago when he said hi again. The conversation went like this….

Christopher: Hi
Responder: Nice to hear from you again. How are you doing?
Christopher: I’ve been fine. Just been viewing porn every night and drinking.
Responder: Thanks for your honesty. What’s been happening in your life that has caused you to turn to alcohol and porn
Christopher: Well it was mostly due to past relationships not working out of me getting emotionally hurt….I’ve never had a proper relationship before….

Since the New Year the regularity of drinking and porn watching has halved and we are now talking about options for Christopher to connect with a church community.
